Micropolis AI Robotics has signed a five-year agreement with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport to deploy and operate autonomous street-cleaning robots across the emirate.
The project will begin with the rollout of AI-powered autonomous sweepers designed for urban cleaning and maintenance tasks.
“This project showcases our ability to deliver fully integrated autonomous systems that move beyond traditional automation by combining intelligent robotics, AI decision-making, and real-world operational capabilities,” founder and CEO Fareed Aljawhari noted in te announcement.
The UAE-based robotics company said the autonomous sweepers combine sensors, navigation systems, fleet management software and predictive maintenance capabilities to operate with limited human intervention. The deployment will use Micropolis’ integrated platform of autonomous vehicles, robotics software and fleet management technologies.
The project fits with efforts by Abu Dhabi and the UAE to expand the use of artificial intelligence and autonomous technologies in public infrastructure, the company pointed out. As part of the initiative, Micropolis plans to work with Khalifa University on research, testing and knowledge-transfer activities related to autonomous robotics and physical AI systems.
