China’s Galileo Robotics Unveils Galileo X ‘Embodied Ground Mobility System’

Galileo Robotics has introduced Galileo X, a general-purpose ground mobility platform designed to combine characteristics of wheeled, vehicle-based and legged robots in a single system.

The Chinese robotics company unveiled the platform at the 2026 World Robot Conference and according to the company Galileo X is an “embodied ground mobility system” designed for applications ranging from warehouse transport to off-road operations and inspection.

Galileo X uses an integrated hardware architecture and a common control framework intended to coordinate mechanics, actuation, perception and movement across different types of ground mobility. The company said the platform is designed to combine the precise indoor transport capabilities of automated guided vehicles, the longer-range mobility of off-road vehicles and the terrain-handling capabilities of legged robots.

Potential applications include heavy-duty material handling, warehouse logistics, directional transport, inspection and mobile operating platforms. Galileo also said the system could serve as a mobile chassis for humanoid robots.

The company said Galileo X is built on robot platforms, core components, motion-control systems and underlying technologies that it has developed in-house and sees it as a single platform that can be adapted for different operating environments rather than requiring separate robots for each type of mobility task.

Galileo also plans to open hardware and software interfaces for the platform so outside algorithm developers, application providers and other industry partners can build on the system. The company said it intends to work with those partners on applications that combine Galileo X hardware with third-party algorithms and industry-specific software. Galileo also indicated it plans to expand its overseas sales and distribution network as it looks to commercialize the platform in additional markets.
