Amazon has announced the expansion of its artificial intelligence healthcare assistant, Health AI, making the tool available across the company’s website and mobile app as part of a broader push into AI-powered health services. The assistant was previously limited to the mobile application of One Medical, the healthcare provider Amazon acquired for $3.9 billion in 2023.
Health AI enables users to ask health-related questions, interpret medical records and lab results, manage prescription renewals, and schedule medical appointments. Amazon said the assistant can respond to general health inquiries without accessing personal records but can provide more personalized guidance when users grant permission to access their data through the national Health Information Exchange system.
The company said interactions take place in a HIPAA-compliant environment with encryption and restricted access controls. Health AI can also connect users to One Medical providers, while Prime members may receive direct-message consultations for common conditions through the service.
