X Square Robot is partnering with household services platform 58.com to pilot a home-cleaning robot service in Shenzhen, China.
“This Shenzhen pilot is part of a broader partnership between 58.com and X Square Robot to scale embodied AI in the service economy,” 58.com said in the announcement. “We plan to expand to more Chinese cities, bringing intelligent, AI-powered services into more homes.”
The companies said the rollout is a first in China and allows customers booking through the 58.com app to receive a hybrid service combining a human cleaner and a robot. The robot is designed to handle structured, repetitive tasks such as wiping surfaces and picking up debris, while the human worker focuses on more complex, judgment-based activities.
The companies said they plan to expand the service to additional cities as they gather performance data and user feedback.
58.com, which operates in more than 200 cities and serves tens of millions of households indicated the partnership as part of a shift from a labor marketplace toward a more integrated, technology-driven service model. The platform that connects millions of domestic workers with consumers and is now exploring how automation can augment that workforce rather than replace it.
