Kapital, an AI-powered financial institution and one of Latin America’s largest B2B financial firms, has agreed to acquire Woz, a Y Combinator-backed startup building advanced AI coding agents, in a $30 million cash-and-stock transaction.
Woz’s flagship product, WOZCODE, uses patented token-reduction technology to make frontier coding models from Anthropic and OpenAI faster, cheaper and better performing, and the company says it has saved customers more than $2.5 million. Woz co-founders Ben Collins and Brad Eckert will join Kapital as Head of AI and Chief Technology Officer respectively, along with the full Woz development team, which Kapital plans to expand in San Francisco over the next year.
Under their leadership, Kapital will develop new AI models and products for enterprise financial applications, building on its existing OctavIA suite, which supports live scoring, underwriting, risk and customer intelligence.
CEO and co-founder René Saúl said Kapital believes pushing the boundaries of financial services requires being at the frontier of AI, and that Woz will take its platform to the next level. Collins said Kapital’s extensive financial dataset offers major potential for Woz’s AI tools.
The deal follows Kapital’s $125 million financing in September and will support expansion across Mexico, the U.S. and other markets.
