Safra Catz on How AI & the Cloud Are Transforming Business

At Oracle CloudWorld 2024, Safra Catz, CEO of Oracle, took the stage to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and the cloud on business transformation.

“We’re not just solving problems anymore,” Catz said, underlining that today’s focus is about “turning unimagined opportunities into remarkable outcomes.”

Oracle, founded 47 years ago, is now reaping the benefits of its evolution. Catz emphasized that AI, embedded across industries, is transforming business models and customer experiences.

“Everything has changed. Now, it’s not just about solving problems; it’s about quantum leaps in productivity, growth, and innovation,” she noted.

Catz credited Oracle’s innovative approach to cloud technology for its success, saying the company designed its cloud to run faster and more securely, with the flexibility to operate in various environments.

“We built it differently,” she explained, pointing out that Oracle’s cloud can be deployed in private, public, sovereign, or even air-gapped environments, making it adaptable to any customer need.

The Oracle CEO underscored the critical role of AI in their latest offerings, particularly the autonomous database, which uses AI to enhance performance and security.

“The most incredible use of AI in the database is giving you all those capabilities,” Catz said, which references the speed and efficiency AI brings to Oracle’s systems.

In partnership with companies like Microsoft, Google, and AWS, Oracle is extending its technology ecosystem to empower more customers. Catz said: “Our technology is now the destination of choice,” citing Oracle’s unique AI foundation as a key differentiator.

Summing up the event, Catz attributed Oracle’s success to its customers, thanking them for their ongoing support. “You’re making quantum leaps,” she told the audience, reinforcing that with the right technology, “you’re shaping the future.”
