SymbyAI Secures $2.1M to Advance AI-Powered Scientific Research Platform

SymbyAI, a SaaS platform leveraging AI to streamline scientific research, has raised $2.1 million in a seed round led by Drive Capital and CharacterVC. The funding will support the company’s expansion and accelerate its mission to modernize the research process by providing a centralized workspace for scientists to access papers, code, data, and peer-reviewed findings.

Ashia Livaudais, co-founder and CEO of SymbyAI, stated that the platform was born out of the inefficiencies she encountered in the scientific review process. She explained that SymbyAI dramatically shortens research workflows from months to hours, addressing a widespread need within the academic and research community. She noted that once the company demonstrated consistent success in accelerating research, demand for a full-scale solution rapidly emerged.

Unlike many AI-driven platforms, SymbyAI operates on a proprietary AI system, ensuring that researchers’ confidential data is not shared with external AI providers such as OpenAI or Anthropic. Livaudais emphasized that intellectual property remains fully owned by researchers and is not used to train SymbyAI’s models, maintaining privacy and security in scientific collaboration.

The company has already partnered with academic publishers, research institutions, and universities. Livaudais first connected with investors through the gBeta program, an initiative under gener8tor. She credited the program with facilitating SymbyAI’s early funding, including support from Antler, which was among the first to invest in the company’s pre-seed round.

With the new funding, SymbyAI plans to further develop its AI-driven research platform and expand its partnerships across the scientific community.
