Meta’s VP of AI Research Joelle Pineau to Depart Amid $65B AI Infrastructure Push

Joelle Pineau, Vice President of AI Research at Meta, has announced her planned departure from the company this May. Pineau, who has overseen Meta’s internal AI research lab FAIR for more than two years, shared the news in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Her exit comes as Meta intensifies its investment in artificial intelligence, with $65 billion allocated for AI infrastructure in 2025. A Meta spokesperson told Bloomberg that while no successor has been named, the company is actively searching for one.

Pineau, who worked closely with Yann LeCun, said she plans to take time off before pursuing a “new adventure,” though further details were not disclosed.
