Chatbot Arena Spins Out as Arena Intelligence to Advance Independent AI Benchmarking

Chatbot Arena, the widely used AI benchmarking platform created by researchers affiliated with UC Berkeley, has officially launched as a standalone company named Arena Intelligence Inc., according to a report from Bloomberg.

The platform, which has drawn attention from major AI labs including OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, will now operate with dedicated resources to further develop its community-driven evaluation system. In a blog post, the team said the move would allow it to “improve [its platform] significantly over what it is today,” while reaffirming its commitment to remaining a neutral testing ground for AI models.

Founded in 2023, Chatbot Arena has grown into a key industry benchmark, offering public side-by-side comparisons of leading large language models. It was initially supported by grants and donations from sources including Google’s Kaggle, Andreessen Horowitz, and Together AI. The newly formed Arena Intelligence has not yet disclosed new funding or its business model plans.
