Microsoft CEO Says AI Now Writes Up to 30% of Company Code as AI Development Surges

Speaking at Meta’s inaugural LlamaCon developer conference, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed that AI now writes between 20% and 30% of Microsoft’s internal code — an amount he said is steadily increasing.

In a live discussion with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in Menlo Park, Nadella noted the accelerating shift in software development powered by generative AI tools. Zuckerberg added that Meta is building an AI model capable of developing future versions of its Llama models, predicting that within a year, AI could be responsible for half of all software development at the company.

The remarks underscore how major tech firms are embracing AI to reshape the software engineering process and scale innovation across teams.
