Lumen Technologies (NYSE: LUMN) and IBM (NYSE: IBM) have announced a strategic collaboration to bring AI inferencing to the network edge by integrating IBM’s watsonx AI platform into Lumen’s Edge Cloud infrastructure. This partnership aims to help enterprises scale AI adoption by enabling real-time data processing closer to the source, improving cost-efficiency, security, and performance.
IBM Consulting will serve as the preferred systems integrator for deploying these solutions. Lumen’s ultra-low-latency network, combined with watsonx, will support use cases such as predictive maintenance, intelligent supply chains, and AI-enhanced customer experiences across industries including retail, healthcare, logistics, and financial services. Deployment pilots are already underway with joint clients.
