A new joint venture, Utopai East, has been formed to develop large-scale AI infrastructure dedicated to film and television production. The initiative is a 50–50 partnership between Stock Farm Road (SFR), co-founded by Brian Kooand Amin Badr-El-Din, and Utopai Studios, led by Cecilia Shen. The collaboration aims to address the massive data and energy requirements behind AI-powered creativity while ensuring filmmakers and artists remain central to the process.
Under the agreement, SFR will contribute capital, creative expertise, and industry partnerships, while Utopai provides the technology and workflow systems. The venture will co-produce AI-assisted film and TV projects, beginning with Korean content before expanding across Asia. The first productions are expected to debut next year.
Koo said the partnership aligns with SFR’s broader plan to build a 3-gigawatt AI data center in South Korea, supporting entertainment, manufacturing, and quantum computing. Shen emphasized that Utopai’s approach prioritizes collaboration with writers, directors, and actors, using only fully licensed datasets to enhance — rather than replace — human creativity in storytelling.
