FreePress Closes €1M Seed Round to Scale AI-Driven Multilingual News Platform

FreePress has raised €1 million in seed funding to expand its AI-powered news platform and accelerate global market entry. Founded in 2023, the Finnish startup uses artificial intelligence to analyze and summarize vast volumes of publicly available and licensed articles, offering multilingual, personalized news while directing readers to original reporting. The new capital will support product development, strengthen AI capabilities, and deepen collaborations with media organizations as the company prepares for international growth.

Central to FreePress’s model is a revenue-sharing framework that returns up to half of platform revenue to participating publishers, giving news organizations an additional monetization channel and broader audience reach. Since launching in Finland in late 2025, the company has partnered with local publishers and is in discussions with international outlets to expand its network.

Funding will also drive enhancements to the platform’s AI engine, which acts as a virtual editor by producing concise summaries across global categories and multiple languages. As FreePress expands its team and adds new markets and languages, the company aims to offer scalable tools for publishers while improving news accessibility and trust for readers worldwide.
