OpenAI Reportedly Explores Mega Funding Round Valuing Company at Up to $830B

OpenAI is in discussions to raise up to $100 billion in new financing in a funding round that could value the company as high as $830 billion, according to reporting from The Wall Street Journal. The talks, which follow earlier reporting by The Information, suggest the ChatGPT maker is targeting a close by the end of the first calendar quarter next year and may seek participation from sovereign wealth funds.

The prospective raise comes as OpenAI accelerates global investment to support large-scale AI model development, rising inference costs, and expanding developer tooling amid intensifying competition from Anthropic and Google. OpenAI is also navigating growing capital demands tied to compute infrastructure and chip supply constraints.

If completed, the round would significantly expand OpenAI’s capital base, following recent secondary transactions valuing the company near $500 billion.
