AWS Launches Amazon Connect Health to Automate Healthcare Administration With AI Agents

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced Amazon Connect Health, a new AI agent-powered platform designed to automate administrative workflows for healthcare providers. The system aims to reduce operational burdens by handling tasks such as appointment scheduling, patient verification, documentation, and medical coding.

The platform is HIPAA-eligible and integrates with electronic health record (EHR) systems as well as partners including data integrators and patient engagement platforms. AWS said the system works directly alongside clinician software to manage administrative processes such as reviewing medical histories and generating clinical documentation.

Amazon Connect Health initially includes features for patient verification and ambient documentation, while appointment scheduling and patient insights are currently in preview. Additional capabilities, including medical coding automation, are expected to be released later.

The launch expands AWS’s growing presence in healthcare technology, building on earlier services such as Amazon Comprehend Medical, Amazon HealthLake, and HealthOmics, as the company targets the rapidly expanding healthcare AI market.
