Canva has upgraded its AI assistant to enable more advanced, agent-driven design workflows, positioning AI at the centre of content creation. The system allows users to generate fully editable designs from text prompts, automatically orchestrating tools and producing layered outputs that can be refined within the platform.
Co-founder and COO Cliff Obrecht indicated the company is focused on making Canva the final stage for editing, collaboration, and publishing, even as it integrates with external AI systems from Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI.
The update introduces integrations with tools such as Slack, Gmail, and Google Drive, alongside web research and task scheduling capabilities. Canva also reported significant efficiency gains in its AI models, with faster and lower-cost image and video generation.
