Google Expands Gemini AI Assistant in Chrome to Seven New Markets

Google announced Monday that its Gemini AI feature within Chrome is now available in Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam, extending a rollout that began in the United States in January and reached India, Canada, and New Zealand in March.

The sidebar-based AI assistant allows users to ask questions across tabs, draft and send emails via Gmail, schedule calendar meetings, and access personalised answers by connecting to services including Google Photos. Users can also transform web images using the Nano Banana 2 model directly within the sidebar.

Google’s more advanced agentic capability — which can autonomously control the browser to complete tasks on a user’s behalf — remains in testing and restricted to paid AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the United States.
