Anthropic has asked investors to submit allocations within 48 hours for what is expected to be its final private fundraising round before an IPO, with the deal anticipated to close within two weeks, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The round is targeting a valuation of approximately $900 billion, though sources indicate the final figure could exceed that given intense investor demand. The raise is expected to total around $50 billion, intended to fund the company’s substantial computing requirements.
Some early backers from 2024 and before are sitting out the round, preferring to wait for a potential IPO later this year. Anthropic’s revenue run rate, officially reported above $30 billion, is believed to be closer to $40 billion. The new valuation would surpass rival OpenAI’s $852 billion post-money valuation from earlier this year.
