Amazon’s Alexa+ Can Now Generate On-Demand AI Podcast Episodes From Any Topic

Amazon has launched Alexa Podcasts, a new feature within Alexa+ that generates custom audio podcast episodes on demand using AI, marking a significant step toward positioning the voice assistant as a personalised AI content platform rather than a simple query-and-response tool.

Users can request an episode on any topic, after which Alexa+ autonomously researches the subject, generates a structured overview, and narrates the finished episode using AI-generated voices. Length, tone, and focus can be adjusted before production. Completed episodes are delivered via Echo Show devices and saved within the Alexa app.

To address accuracy concerns, Amazon has established content partnerships with major outlets including the Associated Press, Reuters, The Washington Post, and more than 200 local US newspapers, enabling Alexa+ to draw on real-time information.

The launch raises broader questions around AI-generated audio ethics and the displacement of traditional podcast creators. Amazon said it is also developing personalised news briefings and episodes generated from users’ own documents as future extensions of the capability.
