Amazon has launched an AI-powered merchandise design feature inside its Shopping app, allowing users in the United States to generate custom products through Alexa prompts with no design skills required.
Through the company’s existing Merch on Demand print-on-demand service, customers can describe an idea to Alexa and have it rendered as a design across a range of products including apparel, tumblers, and water bottles. Amazon handles production and delivery via Prime shipping. The feature is free to use, with customers paying only for the physical items.
The move puts Amazon in direct competition with dedicated merchandise platforms such as Redbubble, Bonfire, and Fourthwall, while significantly lowering the barrier for consumers looking to turn ideas into physical products without traditional creative tools.
