Sandstone has closed a $30 million Series A led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, just six months after a Sequoia-led $10 million seed round, to build AI-powered workflow and relationship management tools for in-house legal departments at small and mid-sized businesses.
Co-founder and chief operating officer Jarryd Strydom said the platform helps legal teams triage incoming work from channels including Slack, email, and Jira, then execute tasks such as drafting, reviewing, and legal analysis through customisable AI workflows.
The company is targeting a segment largely overlooked by legal AI heavyweights Harvey and Legora, which focus primarily on private practice. Sandstone will also compete against Anthropic, which has been expanding its Claude for Legal offering with tools for case law search and deposition preparation. Existing investors Mantis VC, SV Angel, and Sequoia participated in the round.
