LinkedIn Rolls Out “AI Slop” Reporting Button as Platform Cracks Down on Low-Quality AI Content

LinkedIn has announced it is introducing a “seems like AI slop” button, letting users flag posts that appear to be written by AI, as part of a broader effort to reduce low-quality generated content on the platform.

The move follows similar steps across the industry, including Substack’s recent partnership with Pangram to help identify AI-written newsletters, and comes as Pangram itself raised $9 million to address the growing volume of AI content online. Cloudflare has reported that bot traffic has now overtaken human traffic on the web, a shift arriving faster than the company had anticipated.

LinkedIn chief product officer Hari Srinivasan said addressing AI slop is a top priority for the company, noting that people come to LinkedIn seeking genuine connection and perspectives. He said the new button will feed into classifiers designed to identify low-quality AI content and reduce its presence in recommended posts from outside a user’s network. LinkedIn is also blocking hundreds of thousands of automated comment attempts daily and will begin privately notifying users when their posts appear inauthentic due to heavy AI use, aiming to help them refine their writing rather than penalize them outright.

The company is also retiring its AI-powered “enhance your post” writing feature in favor of a proofreading tool that preserves users’ original voice, while expanding profile verification options and adding controls to block unwanted company page comments.
