Nvidia Partners With Wall Street Giants on $500B Push to Turn AI Chips Into New Asset Class

Nvidia has signed memorandums of understanding with six major asset managers, including Apollo Global Management, Blackstone, BlackRock, Brookfield Asset Management, Goldman Sachs, and KKR, to establish financing platforms aimed at mobilizing more than $500 billion in third-party capital for AI infrastructure. The initiative would allow hyperscalers, AI labs, and enterprises to fund data centers and Nvidia hardware purchases without relying on their own balance sheets.

Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang said the effort represents the first time computer chips have become a genuinely investable asset class, describing AI compute as revenue-generating, durable, and transferable infrastructure comparable to electricity or the internet. Huang said he personally approached the financial firms about the idea, according to Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, who called the moment a pivotal point in the broader AI investment cycle.

Blackstone President Jon Gray compared the approach to how mortgage lenders evaluate housing assets, citing surging AI demand across Blackstone’s portfolio companies. BlackRock CEO Larry Fink likened the initiative to the emergence of mortgage-backed securities in the 1970s, calling it the start of a new era in financial engineering and emphasizing the urgency of deploying capital quickly to support U.S. leadership in AI.

The push follows recent market concerns over whether massive AI infrastructure spending by major tech companies will ultimately generate sufficient returns.
