Superhuman Acquires AI Notetaker Fathom to Expand Productivity Platform

Superhuman announced it is acquiring AI-powered meeting notetaker Fathom, opting to buy an established product rather than build one internally to expand its productivity suite. Fathom, founded in 2020, has raised more than $30 million and was valued at $94 million in 2024, with backers including Zoom Apps Fund, Telescope Partners, and individual investors such as Reddit CEO Steve Huffman and former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear. The company reports over 400,000 monthly active users and more than 1 million total users who have recorded meetings.

Superhuman CEO Shishir Mehrotra said the company had tested an internal notetaker earlier this year but found the category more technically demanding than expected, which increased confidence in the acquisition approach. He said integrating a notetaker will allow Superhuman to surface meeting context in real time and connect it with the company’s existing email, docs, calendar, and AI agent tools.

Fathom CEO Richard White said joining Superhuman’s roughly 40 million-user platform offered a faster path to scale than building out the additional infrastructure needed to compete as a standalone company. The deal comes amid intensifying competition in the meeting notetaker space, with rivals including Granola, Read AI, and Wispr also raising significant funding as AI-driven productivity tools proliferate.
