Footprint has raised $25 million in Series B funding to accelerate development of its AI-native financial crime defense systems. The round was led by QED, with participation from MUFG, Commerce Ventures, LightBank, Alumni Ventures, Index Ventures, Lerer Hippeau, BoxGroup, Operator Partners and Animal Capital.
The company plans to double its engineering and sales teams as it advances two core products. Percy is an AI operating system for financial crime compliance that automates policies and procedures while grounding investigations in trusted KYC, KYB and AML data. Trust Fabric provides the governed infrastructure beneath it, building an organizational memory that makes every investigative decision instantly available across sanctions, monitoring and due diligence functions.
According to Footprint, watchlist hits that once required 30 minutes of manual review can now be resolved in under a minute, while enhanced due diligence has dropped from three hours to under 15 minutes, with 35% more evidence gathered. The platform runs on a model where AI agents propose and humans approve. In one case, it detected a sanctions match hidden across two Cyrillic transliterations of the same name, which a bank’s BSA officer said human reviewers would never have found.
The raise comes as global illicit activity has grown by $1.3 trillion since 2023 to $4.4 trillion, with annual compliance costs in the US and Canada now exceeding $60 billion.
