YouTube used its annual Made On YouTube event to roll out a wave of AI features spanning creator tools, viewer recommendations and YouTube Music.
For creators, YouTube Studio is expanding its AI-powered Q&A tool, Ask Studio, to iOS and Android and adding AI feedback on unpublished drafts covering pacing, structure and storytelling. The app can now generate titles and thumbnails matched to a creator’s style, while a dynamic thumbnail feature shows three options to different audience segments. Creators will soon be able to test up to three video cuts, and Studio will later automatically swap underperforming thumbnails. Analytics are also being updated to explain why videos perform as they do.
Viewers are getting custom feeds, powered by Google’s Gemini model, which let users describe in their own words the videos they want recommended. Each feed is pinned as its own tab on the home page. Emily Moxley, VP of Product Management for Viewer AI, said the feature helps users explore a catalog of more than 20 billion videos. Custom feeds roll out on web and mobile next month.
YouTube Music is adding Ask Music, a conversational tool for discovering songs and podcasts across more than 300 million tracks, and Your Podcast Lineup, a weekly AI-generated audio guide to recommended shows, both coming soon to Music and Premium subscribers worldwide.
