Nous Research, the startup behind the open source Hermes Agent, has secured a $90 million Series B at a $1.5 billion valuation, confirming earlier reporting by TechCrunch. The round was led by Robot Ventures, with participation from Nvidia, Union Square Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Samsung and 1789 Capital, where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner. The financing brings the three-year-old company’s total funding to $158 million.
Hermes Agent has gained strong traction among developers and individual users. According to the startup’s own estimates, the open source agent has been cloned more than 24 million times and now accounts for roughly 2.5% of global AI token usage.
The new capital will support Nous Research’s expansion into the enterprise market through Hermes for Businesses, an offering that lets companies deploy customized AI agents capable of handling multi-step workflows while keeping their data private and secure.
The company’s commercial momentum is also building. The Wall Street Journal reported that Nous Research had reached about $36 million in annualized revenue by mid-September 2026 and expects to surpass $100 million before the end of the year.
