“AI can simplify work in various ways,” explained Ehsanul Islam, Qualcomm’s Vice President of Engineering for Southeast Asia, as he discussed during a recent interview how Qualcomm’s AI advancements are set to reshape productivity and creativity for consumers and businesses alike. Leading Qualcomm’s AI efforts in the region, Islam stressed that AI-driven technologies are helping the company’s devices become essential tools for both work and personal use.
Islam highlighted Qualcomm’s approach to bringing smartphone-like convenience to laptops, particularly with their new AI-enabled Qualcomm X Elite laptops.
“When you have your phone, it’s always on, always connected,” Islam said, comparing the reliability of smartphones to the often-cumbersome experience of working on laptops. He mentioned that with Qualcomm’s devices, “you really don’t need to think about charging power and all those things,” aiming to make laptops just as efficient and user-friendly as mobile devices.
The impact of AI on productivity shines through Qualcomm’s focus on seamless, intuitive user experiences. Islam discussed how AI features in the X Elite platform can support everyday tasks, particularly in virtual meetings and collaboration.
“When you do team meetings, AI can fix your eyes on the camera, so it always looks like you’re paying attention,” Islam explained, adding that the AI also eliminates background noise for clearer communication. These enhancements, according to Islam, make remote work and collaboration more streamlined and efficient.
The integration of AI into project management tools is another game-changer. With AI-enabled predictive capabilities, Qualcomm’s devices can simplify tasks like organizing project timelines, generating insights, and providing predictive delays.
“You don’t really need to do a lot of manual work,” said Islam, emphasizing how Qualcomm’s devices help users stay organized and productive with minimal effort. Furthermore, AI tools like Copilot Plus assist users in drafting emails and managing workloads, automating repetitive tasks and enabling faster completion of projects.
Beyond productivity, AI is also enhancing creativity for users, particularly younger generations who see themselves as digital creators. Islam explained that with Qualcomm’s AI-powered Creator tools, users can quickly create and enhance visual content.
“Whenever they create a video and post it, they feel they’re the Creator,” Islam said, noting how Qualcomm’s AI tools simplify content creation on platforms like TikTok. Qualcomm’s advanced capabilities in AI-driven editing software, such as the magic mask feature in DaVinci Resolve, allow creators to edit videos four times faster than with traditional tools. “In Qualcomm X Elite, you can really be a real creator,” he added, further describing how the technology supports seamless and efficient video editing.
Reflecting on Qualcomm’s dedication to AI, Islam mentioned the company’s decade-long investment in AI research, initially aimed at enhancing smartphone features. Now, Qualcomm is bringing the same robust AI capabilities to laptops, supporting productivity, creativity, and user-friendly experiences in one platform.
“We’re seeing the revolutions of AI through Qualcomm laptops,” he concluded. This illustates the transformative potential Qualcomm’s AI-powered devices bring to users across work, creativity, and day-to-day tasks.
Qualcomm’s AI advancements are not only reshaping productivity but are also opening new avenues for creativity, making it easier than ever for users to harness the power of AI in every aspect of their lives.
