Mayo Clinic’s AI Tool Identifies 9 Dementia Types, Including Alzheimer’s, With One Scan

Mayo Clinic researchers have developed an AI tool, StateViewer, that identifies patterns of brain activity linked to nine types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s, using a single FDG-PET scan. In tests involving over 3,600 scans, StateViewer identified the correct dementia type in 88% of cases and helped clinicians interpret scans nearly twice as fast with up to three times greater accuracy.
