OpenAI Secures Strategic GSA Deal to Deliver ChatGPT Enterprise to Federal Agencies for $1

OpenAI has finalized a major agreement with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to provide ChatGPT Enterprise to participating federal agencies for just $1 per agency over the next year, signaling a bold move to outpace rivals Google and Anthropic in government AI integration.

This development comes shortly after all three companies were added to the GSA’s Multiple Award Schedule (MAS), a platform that simplifies federal procurement through pre-negotiated contracts. In addition to deep discounts, OpenAI will offer 60 days of unlimited access to its advanced models, along with training resources and a dedicated government user community.

The agreement aligns with recent policy shifts under the Trump administration’s AI Action Plan, which prioritizes secure, ideologically neutral AI adoption across government systems. Data privacy measures for sensitive federal use cases remain a focus, as agencies pursue AI integration under strict security guidelines.
