Microsoft has revealed Mico, a customizable AI avatar designed to give its Copilot assistant a more personal, expressive presence. Debuting at the company’s Copilot fall release event, Mico provides visual reactions, color changes, and voice interaction as part of Microsoft’s push to make AI more approachable in daily consumer use. The feature launches first in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., enabled in voice mode with an option to turn it off.
Developed under the leadership of Mustafa Suleyman, Microsoft’s CEO of AI, Mico adds memory capabilities, tutoring features, and a more confident communication style through a new “Real Talk” mode. The update arrives alongside enhancements across Copilot and Microsoft Edge, positioning the company to compete in the rapidly evolving market for AI-enhanced browsers and interactive digital assistants.
