Microsoft AI Chief Says Only Biological Beings Can Be Conscious

Microsoft AI chief Mustafa Suleyman stated that AI systems cannot and should not be developed to simulate or suggest consciousness, calling such research “absurd” and ethically misguided, according to CNBC. Google Pulls Gemma From AI Studio After US Senator Accuses Model of Defamation

Google has removed its Gemma AI model from AI Studio after Senator Marsha Blackburn accused it of generating a false and defamatory response alleging past misconduct, TchCrunch reported. In response, Google stated that Gemma was not intended as a consumer-facing factual tool and will remain available via API for developer use. (TechCrunch)

University of Surrey Researchers Mimick Human Brain to Improve AI Performance

University of Surrey researchers have developed a brain-inspired AI model called Topographical Sparse Mapping that boosts performance while reducing energy consumption.
