Google has received approval from the U.S. Department of Justice to proceed with its $32 billion acquisition of cloud security firm Wiz, marking a major step toward completing one of the largest cybersecurity deals in history. Wiz CEO Assaf Rappaport confirmed the regulatory clearance during a Wall Street Journal event, noting that while the milestone moves the deal forward, the transaction is still pending final closure.
Google first approached Wiz in 2024 with a $23 billion offer, which the company declined before resuming negotiations early in 2025. The acquisition, officially announced in March 2025, underscores Google’s deepening investment in AI-driven cloud security and is expected to close in early 2026, according to Reuters.
