Apple Introduces Agentic Coding Tools in Xcode 26.3 With OpenAI and Anthropic Integration

Apple announced the release candidate of Xcode 26.3, introducing agentic coding capabilities directly into its app development environment. The update allows developers to use AI coding agents, including Anthropic’s Claude Agent and OpenAI’s Codex, within the Xcode integrated development environment used to build applications across Apple’s device ecosystem.

The new release builds on earlier AI integrations introduced in Xcode 26 and enables agents to analyze projects, generate code, run tests, and fix errors using Apple developer documentation and APIs. Apple said it worked closely with both AI providers to optimize tool integration and efficiency through the Model Context Protocol. The company expects agentic workflows to simplify software development, support learning for new programmers, and enable more advanced automation inside the development process.
