Insilico Medicine and Bora Pharmaceuticals are planning a strategic alliance to connect AI-driven drug discovery with drug development, manufacturing and commercialization.

According to Insilico, the partnership is part of an effort toward AI-driven and automation-driven drug discovery and development. The companies expect to explore AI and automation in areas including development planning, process optimization, pharmaceutical development, manufacturing readiness and quality systems.

The proposed collaboration remains subject to further discussion and definitive agreements, but estimated the proposed multi-target collaboration could be worth more than $2.5 billion if fully implemented The alliance is intended to combine Insilico’s Pharma.AI platform with Bora’s drug development, manufacturing, quality and commercialization capabilities.

“This is not simply about adding AI to existing processes; it is about reimagining how pharmaceutical products are developed, manufactured, and brought to patients,” noted Bobby Sheng, founder, chairman of Bora Group and CEO of Bora Pharmaceuticals. “Together, we aim to build a scalable and repeatable model that can advance promising drug candidates more efficiently, positioning Bora at the forefront of AI-enabled pharmaceutical development and manufacturing, and establish a long-term growth platform through the development and commercialization of high-value proprietary assets.”

The proposed alliance would use Insilico’s platform for target discovery, generative chemistry and molecule optimization. Bora would bring capabilities in pharmaceutical development, manufacturing, quality systems, supply chain execution and commercialization.

Insilico also expects to support Bora in strengthening AI capabilities across its workforce and improving AI literacy across the organization. The companies also plan to explore the use of AI to improve efficiency in manufacturing, supply chain, distribution and corporate operations.

Insilico pointed out that traditional early-stage drug discovery typically takes 2.5 to four years, while its platform has reached preclinical candidate nomination in an average of 12 to 18 months.

“Insilico has built a powerful AI-native engine for target discovery, generative chemistry, and molecule optimization,” added Dr. Alex Zhavoronkov, founder, co-CEO, and CBO of Insilico Medicine. “Together with Bora, we aim to connect that discovery engine with the capabilities required to advance high-quality drug candidates through development, manufacturing, and potential commercialization, while also supporting Bora’s broader AI transformation. This alliance represents an important step toward demonstrating how AI-discovered medicines can be developed faster, more efficiently, and with greater scalability.”

Since 2021, Insilico has nominated 31 preclinical candidates, 13 of which have received IND approval or clearance. Insilico indicated it is also expanding MMAI Gym, its platform for training and benchmarking scientific AI models. The company said Human Longevity and Liquid AI have joined as partners of MMAI Gym.
