OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Health to Create Dedicated AI Space for Wellness Conversations

OpenAI has announced ChatGPT Health, a new feature that provides users with a dedicated environment to discuss health and wellness topics with its AI assistant. The company said the launch reflects existing user behavior, noting that more than 230 million people ask health-related questions on ChatGPT each week. The Health experience separates medical and wellness conversations from general chats, while prompting users to move into the Health section when sensitive topics arise.

ChatGPT Health is designed to retain relevant personal context, such as fitness goals, and can integrate data from wellness platforms including Apple Health, Function, and MyFitnessPal. OpenAI stated that conversations within Health will not be used to train its models.

Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s CEO of Applications, said the initiative is intended to address barriers such as cost, access, and continuity of care in healthcare systems. OpenAI emphasized that the feature is not intended for medical diagnosis or treatment. ChatGPT Health is expected to roll out in the coming weeks.
