Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei has revealed he manages just one direct report, his chief of staff, with the rest of the company’s executive team reporting to his sister and co-founder Daniela Amodei, who serves as president and oversees day-to-day operations.
Amodei described the arrangement as liberating, saying it allows him to focus almost entirely on strategy, research direction, and culture at a company now valued by private market investors at close to one trillion dollars.
The structure is notably unusual among major AI leaders. OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman reportedly manages around six direct reports, while Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang oversees many dozens, making Amodei’s single-report approach an outlier even by Silicon Valley standards.
