Pinterest has unveiled a standalone experimental app, Ask Pinterest, that brings conversational AI to product discovery and shopping, drawing on the company’s proprietary Taste Graph to deliver personalised recommendations through natural-language queries. The app supports complex, multistep requests and retains user context across sessions, with saved Pins and Boards used to further tailor results.
The launch arrives ahead of Cannes Lions, where AI’s role in advertising dominates discussion. Alongside the app, Pinterest introduced a Model Context Protocol infrastructure layer allowing advertisers to manage campaigns through third-party agentic tools, a beta AI assistant within its Ads Manager, and a new Performance+ creative model to optimise ad selection globally.
Chief business officer Lee Brown said discovery would increasingly be shaped by context and taste rather than keywords, an area where Pinterest believes it holds a distinct competitive advantage.
