King Charles to Convene Top AI Leaders
King Charles III will meet with executives from Nvidia, Google, DeepMind, OpenAI and Anthropic in Scotland to discuss how AI can be developed and deployed to benefit society, The New York Times reported. Buckingham Palace said in a statement the gathering at Dumfries House will also include government officials and focus on using AI to strengthen communities and improve lives. (The New York Times)
Trump Says ‘Very Negative Forces’ Raising Exaggerated Concerns Over AI
Reuters reported that President Donald Trump dismissed some warnings about artificial intelligence as exaggerated and said the U.S. should remain the global leader in AI, while leaving open the possibility of guardrails. The comments came as Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for slowing AI development through a three-step framework that drew support from Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. (Reuters)
Sam Altman Addresses AI Doomsday Fears in New Interview
In an interview with Fortune, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said current AI safety standards are not strong enough to justify pushing model capabilities much further and that AI systems moving beyond human control is possible. Altman also said he would be willing to pause or stop development if necessary and discussed a potential industry pact to slow progress while safety and alignment measures catch up. (Fortune)
House Speaker Johnson Says Congress Shouldn’t Lead AI Safety Efforts
House Speaker Mike Johnson said AI developers bear primary responsibility for making their products safe and rejected a federal moratorium, arguing that slowing U.S. development could give China an advantage, USA reported. Johnson said he supports talks with technology leaders on safeguards but cautioned against regulations that could stifle U.S. innovation. (USA Today)
Husqvarna Gets FCC Conditional Approval for Advanced Robotic Lawn Mowers in the US
Husqvarna Group received conditional FCC approval for four foreign-manufactured robotic lawn mower platforms planned for the U.S. market. The Automower 305V iQ, 310V iQ, 420V iQ and 440V iQ are expected to launch in 2027 and are exempt from the FCC Covered List, while Husqvarna said it is the first robotics company to receive such approval. The U.S. House Science, Space and Technology Committee will hold a Sept. 15 hearing on how AI, autonomous systems, advanced sensing, remote sensing and data analytics can improve disaster prediction, warning and response. Witnesses from Pano AI, the American Flood Coalition, Resilitix AI and Earth Fire Alliance will discuss technologies for wildfires, floods and other hazards, along with barriers to broader deployment such as fragmented funding, contracting delays and integration challenges. Sen. Bernie Sanders to Host AI Briefing for Senators
Axios reported that Sen. Bernie Sanders will hold a bipartisan Senate briefing Sept. 16 on the risks posed by advanced AI, bringing in Geoffrey Hinton, Max Tegmark and Ajeya Cotra. The meeting comes amid growing concern in Washington following warnings from former AI researchers and Sanders’ own push for legislation that would pause some AI development. (Axios)

Dreamforce 2026
Salesforce will hold Dreamforce 2026 from Sept. 15-17 in San Francisco and online, with more than 1,600 breakout sessions, 50 keynotes and 150 hands-on trainings focused heavily on AI and the “agentic enterprise.” Speakers include Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Siemens CEO Roland Busch and Travis Kalanick, with sessions covering AI agents, industrial AI, enterprise data and robotics. Global Forum on the Ethics of AI
UNESCO will hold its fourth Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence Sept. 14-17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focused on global cooperation around ethical AI governance. The forum will bring together governments, industry, researchers and civil society to discuss AI readiness, accountability, safety, public administration, inclusion, sustainability and implementation of UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of AI. Pittsburgh Robotics & AI Discovery Day
Pittsburgh Robotics & AI Discovery Day will be held Sept. 16 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, with organizers expecting more than 10,000 attendees and 250 exhibitors across robotics, AI, advanced manufacturing, defense and career-focused zones. The free event, led by the Pittsburgh Robotics Network with Innovation Works, will feature live demonstrations, interactive exhibits and opportunities to connect with robotics and AI companies, researchers and industry groups.
