Doha-based agentic AI startup Aligator has secured investment from Qatar Development Bank and Next Ventures, a fund by Media City Qatar, to expand its autonomous agents for the public relations industry.
Founded in 2025 by Qatar Foundation alumni from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar and Texas A&M University at Qatar, Aligator builds AI agents that draft and distribute press materials, monitor coverage, match journalists and outlets, and manage outreach workflows end to end. The agents learn each client’s voice, media landscape and objectives, freeing PR teams from repetitive tasks to focus on strategy and relationships.
Founder Ali Abbas said PR is highly relationship-driven yet filled with repetitive work suited to intelligent automation, adding that the funding will accelerate the product roadmap, grow the engineering team and bring agentic AI to communications professionals regionally and beyond. The company plans to hire across engineering, AI research and go-to-market, and expand across the GCC and MENA.
Mohammed Al Emadi, Executive Director of Incubation and Venture Capital Investment at QDB, said Aligator reflects the potential of Qatar’s homegrown innovation ecosystem. Khalid Mubarak Al Naimi, Director and Board Member at Next Ventures, said the investment supports technology addressing real market needs as it scales internationally, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
