0G Foundation, the entity spearheading the development of the 0G decentralized AI operating system, has announced the launch of an $88.88 million ecosystem fund aimed at accelerating AI-driven decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and autonomous agents, known as DeFAI agents.
The initiative has secured strategic backing from leading Web3 investment firms, including Hack VC, Delphi Ventures, Bankless Ventures, and OKX Ventures. This announcement comes at a critical juncture for the convergence of blockchain and AI technologies. Michael Heinrich, co-founder and CEO of 0G Labs, emphasized that the increasing sophistication of AI and the demand for transparent, trustless financial systems make this the ideal time to scale DeFAI development.
Heinrich noted that with the recent completion of 0G’s AI Alignment Node Sale and the imminent mainnet launch, the infrastructure is primed to support a new generation of AI-powered decentralized applications. Industry analysts predict that AI agents will be a defining trend in crypto investments for 2025, following groundbreaking autonomous blockchain transactions executed by Luna in early January.
DeFAI agents are poised to revolutionize DeFi protocols, optimizing yield generation and trading strategies through AI automation. Heinrich highlighted the potential for autonomous yield optimizers, decentralized insurance agents, and cross-chain arbitrage solutions to transform financial markets. Beyond finance, DeFAI agents could drive advancements in supply chain automation, AI-led governance, and decentralized scientific research.
The fund, nearly a year after 0G Labs’ $35 million pre-seed funding round, will support projects focusing on practical AI applications in sectors such as climate change, workforce automation, healthcare, security, and education. The foundation is particularly interested in scalable, technically robust solutions that enhance the broader 0G ecosystem.
0G Labs has already raised $290 million for its AI operating system, reinforcing its commitment to pioneering AI-native blockchain infrastructure.
