Egune AI, Mongolia’s leading foundation model company, has raised $3.5 million in funding to accelerate the development of its national AI infrastructure. The round was backed by Golomt Bank and will support the company’s expansion across key sectors including education, healthcare, and legal services.
Egune AI, which currently commands over 70% of the Mongolian AI market, powers Egune Chat — a native-language AI assistant already integrated across public and private institutions. The company says AI is as vital to a modern nation as electricity, and that without sovereign AI capabilities, a country risks its economic, cultural, and security independence. The funding marks a step toward AI self-reliance for Mongolia.
