Insider Brief
- Agility Robotics is standardizing Digit 5 on Nvidia IGX Thor, making Nvidia the exclusive onboard compute provider for the humanoid’s general-availability version ahead of commercial deployment beginning in 2027.
- The company is also integrating Nvidia Halos components into Digit’s human-detection and safety systems and will participate in Nvidia’s AI Systems Inspection Lab ahead of third-party certification.
- Early access to Digit 5 is expected in the first half of 2027, while Agility is separately preparing to go public through its planned merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI and trade on Nasdaq under the ticker AGLT.
Agility Robotics is standardizing its next-generation Digit 5 humanoid on Nvidia IGX Thor for onboard computing as it prepares the robot for broader commercial deployment beginning in 2027.
According to Agility, Nvidia is now the exclusive provider of onboard compute for the general-availability version of Digit 5, and the change will replace a more varied computing architecture with a common platform for running the robot’s AI, perception and other onboard systems.
Early access to Digit 5 is expected to begin in the first half of 2027, followed by increasing availability over the next six to nine months for manufacturing, warehouse and distribution operators.
Agility noted the compute transition also expands its existing work with Nvidia on safety systems for humanoid robots.
“Bringing humanoid robots to commercial scale requires AI computing and safety to be engineered together,” said Deepu Talla, VP robotics and edge AI at Nvidia. “By standardizing Digit 5’s onboard compute on Nvidia IGX Thor and incorporating NVIDIA Halos into its safety system, Agility is bringing these capabilities together as it prepares for broader deployment in factories and warehouses.”
Combining Compute and Safety
The company said it is integrating IGX Thor and components of Nvidia’s Halos safety platform into its proprietary human-detection system for Digit. According to Agility, the additions are intended to expand the robot’s perception capabilities and support its certification and deployment work. The company previously announced plans to incorporate elements of Halos into its own safety architecture.
Agility will also participate in Nvidia’s Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab, where Digit’s safety-related software, AI components and cybersecurity protections will be evaluated ahead of third-party certification.
“For humanoid robots to deliver lasting value, they need to perform useful work reliably and safely in our customers’ operations,” added Agility CTO Pras Velagapudi. “As we prepare Digit 5 for general availability, we are unifying its compute architecture and building on our safety collaboration with NVIDIA. Moving to NVIDIA Thor modules gives us a common foundation as we advance Digit’s capabilities and prepare for broad commercial deployment.”
Agility Robotics is preparing to go public through its previously announced merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, after which the combined company will operate as Agility Robotics and is expected to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker AGLT.
