OpenAI has secured $8.3 billion in fresh funding at a staggering $300 billion valuation, according to The New York Times. The round, led by Dragoneer Investment Group with a $2.8 billion commitment, marks a major step in OpenAI’s broader push to raise $40 billion in 2025.
The oversubscribed raise comes months ahead of schedule, reflecting surging investor demand amid OpenAI’s rapid growth. The company reportedly hit $13 billion in annualized revenue and now boasts over 700 million weekly active users of ChatGPT.
New investors include Blackstone, TPG, T. Rowe Price, and returning heavyweights like Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, and Thrive Capital. Some early backers were allocated smaller stakes as OpenAI welcomed strategic newcomers to its cap table.
