Apple is reportedly preparing a major overhaul of Siri that could integrate Google’s Gemini AI models, according to Bloomberg. The long-delayed upgrade, now expected in 2026, aims to transform Siri into a competitive AI-powered assistant capable of handling web search and conversational queries, as Apple works to catch up with rivals such as OpenAI, Perplexity, and Google itself.
Under a newly formalized agreement, Apple is said to be testing Gemini technology within Siri, with potential expansion into Safari and Spotlight search. The enhanced assistant would deliver answers using a mix of text, images, video, and local insights, while also incorporating summarization features and personalized navigation through voice.
If successful, the integration would mark one of Apple’s most significant AI collaborations to date, signaling a shift from relying solely on in-house models to adopting external technology for broader iPhone software.
