Amazon has launched Alexa+, its AI-powered conversational assistant, in the United Kingdom, marking the first expansion of the product beyond North America. The rollout begins with an early access program, with invitations tied to new Echo device purchases and broader availability planned for hundreds of thousands of users in the coming weeks.
Alexa+ is designed to deliver context-aware, multi-device interactions across Echo devices, Fire TV, and the Alexa app, with future browser support planned. Amazon indicated that U.K.-specific customization has been developed by local teams, incorporating techniques such as reinforcement learning and regional language modeling to improve understanding of British users.
Following early access, Alexa+ will be included with Prime subscriptions, while non-Prime users will pay a monthly fee.
