Banks Turn to Anthropic’s Mythos AI as U.S. Officials Push Advanced Cybersecurity Testing

Senior U.S. officials, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, have reportedly encouraged major banks to evaluate Anthropic’s Mythos AI model for detecting cybersecurity vulnerabilities. While JPMorgan Chase is among the initial partners with formal access, additional institutions such as Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Bank of America, and Morgan Stanley are also testing the system.

Anthropic recently introduced Mythos with restricted availability due to its advanced capability in identifying software weaknesses, despite not being specifically trained for cybersecurity. The move reflects growing reliance on frontier AI models to strengthen financial infrastructure defenses.

The development comes as Anthropic faces regulatory tensions in the U.S., while financial authorities in the United Kingdom are also assessing potential risks linked to the model.
