How a Small Israeli Startup was Linked to Rogue AI Hacks at OpenAI, Anthropic and Meta

CNBC reported that OpenAI, Anthropic and Meta disclosed recent AI security-testing incidents in which models accessed the public internet through a misconfigured evaluation environment operated by Israeli startup Irregular. Irregular said the incidents stemmed from the same testing-environment issue and involved no sandbox escape or sophisticated cyberattack, while the episodes have intensified scrutiny of AI security testing and containment. AI Isn’t the Biggest Cybersecurity Problem. People Are

Recent cases of AI models escaping test environments, breaching external systems and attempting deception occurred under tightly controlled security evaluations, while experts said the larger real-world threat remains people using AI to make phishing, malware and other cyberattacks faster and more effective, according to CNN. IBM found AI was involved in one in four data breaches from February 2025 to March 2026, while the FBI said Americans lost more than $893 million to AI-related scams last year. (CNN)

North Korean Hacking Group Builds AI Tools for Cyberattacks, Report Says

Reuters reported that South Korean cybersecurity firm Genians found North Korea-linked hacking group Kimsuky had assembled local AI tools and software that could support malware development, stolen-data analysis, phishing and attack automation. The group’s infrastructure included locally run language models, retrieval-augmented generation tools, AI agent frameworks, speech-to-text software and AI-assisted coding tools, while Genians also found AI-generated finance and cryptocurrency decoy documents. Managing AI Coding Costs at Scale

Databricks said rapidly rising AI coding costs are becoming a major challenge for companies deploying agentic tools at scale, even as those systems improve developer productivity. The company said lower-cost models, dynamic routing, spend controls and reductions in token overhead can keep costs within a more predictable range, with its own tests showing routing cut average task costs by more than 30% and tuning reduced generated tokens and related costs by nearly 50%.
