Corbotics and Us2.ai Partner to Combine AI and Robotics for Automated Cardiac Ultrasound Tech

Insider Brief

  • Corbotics and Us2.ai formed a strategic partnership to combine autonomous robotic cardiac ultrasound acquisition with AI-based analysis and reporting across an integrated echocardiography workflow.
  • The companies signed a distribution agreement covering the U.S. E.U. and U.K. while Corbotics develops its Bed Based Echo autonomous ultrasound system and Us2.ai provides regulatory-cleared software for automated measurements and structured reports.
  • Corbotics said its BBE system received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation in June 2026 as the companies target growing echocardiography demand and shortages of trained sonographers.

Corbotics and Us2.ai have formed a strategic partnership to combine autonomous robotic cardiac ultrasound acquisition with AI-based analysis and reporting.

According to Corbotics, the companies have signed a distribution agreement covering the U.S., E.U. and U.K. and are also working on an integrated system that would connect image acquisition with automated analysis and structured reporting.

The Netherlands’based Corbotics is developing Bed Based Echo, or BBE, an autonomous cardiac ultrasound system that combines robotics and AI to automate transthoracic echocardiogram acquisition that is meant to support greater capacity for outpatient cardiac imaging. Us2.ai’s regulatory-cleared software analyzes echocardiography studies and automatically generates cardiac measurements and structured, editable reports for clinician review and validation.

“This partnership brings together two critical pieces of the echo workflow: acquisition and interpretation,” Us2.ai co-founder and president Yoran Hummel said in the announcement. “By combining autonomous image acquisition with automated AI analysis, we have the opportunity to fundamentally change how and where echocardiography can be delivered. The goal is not to replace sonographers or cardiologists, but to extend their reach — enabling more patients to access high-quality cardiac imaging, including in settings where expert echo resources are limited.”

The partnership comes as demand for echocardiography grows while healthcare systems face shortages of trained sonographers and increasing pressure on specialist resources, according to Corbotics and Us2.ai.

“Corbotics’ Bed Based Echo is expected to improve accessibility to quality health care for patients — a potential the FDA recognized in granting the BBE Breakthrough Device Designation in June 2026,” noted Corbotics CEO Adriaan van Donk. “Expanding the automation from acquisition to analysis, while maintaining expert review, will further reduce pressure on the sonographer workforce and the patient will further benefit from improved access.”
