Anthropic Unifies Claude Chat and Cowork Into Single Interface, Adds Slides and Docs Features

Anthropic is merging the front ends of Claude chat and Cowork into a unified interface, aiming to eliminate confusion over which tab to use for different tasks. The new design lets users access chat, Cowork and Artifacts, Claude’s interactive workspace feature, within a single window, with Claude automatically routing requests to the appropriate feature rather than requiring manual tab switches. Claude Design, introduced in April for website and prototype work, now functions across the unified interface as well.

Anthropic said customers previously struggled to determine which tab suited a given task, prompting the consolidation. Alongside the interface merge, the company is introducing dedicated tools for creating presentations and documents. Users can ask Claude to build, edit and present slides, with options to download completed presentations as PDF or PowerPoint files. A companion Docs feature allows users to collaborate with Claude on document sections, ask questions, and comment on finished portions, with generated documents and slides shareable via link and editable from mobile devices.

The update also allows users to begin a document on desktop and monitor its progress through Claude’s mobile app. The new features are rolling out first to Pro and Max subscribers across web, desktop and mobile platforms over the coming weeks, with free and team tiers expected to gain access later.

The rollout follows a recent upgrade to Cowork’s memory layer, which enables Claude to retain user context across separate chat sessions.
